Dr Deirdre McLaughlin is a Research Fellow with the study and is based at the University of Queensland. She has a BSc and PhD in psychology and her background is in ageing and health psychology. Deirdre is particularly interested in quality of life and coping with chronic illness in late adulthood and her PhD thesis examined the impact of epilepsy in older adults. Her previous roles have included conducting research on ageing issues with the Australasian Centre on Ageing and examining the impact of chronic disease on families for Epilepsy Queensland Inc.
Deirdre is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and the Australian Association of Gerontology and is the current national treasurer and state secretary of the Psychology of Ageing Interest Group of the APS.
