Dr. Nancy Pachana is an Associate Professor in the School of Psychology at the University of Queensland. For the last six years Dr. Pachana has worked on ageing projects associated with the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women’s Health.
Her research career demonstrates a strong commitment to research in clinical psychology and neuropsychology, with a particular focus on mood disorders and anxiety in later life, and cognitive functioning and assessment of early cognitive decline in older populations. She has published in collaboration with students and colleagues from psychiatry, cognitive psychology, speech pathology, and occupational therapy on a range of assessment and intervention issues in older cohorts, and on methodological issues in approaching lifespan data.
She has published widely in the peer-reviewed psychological and neuropsychological literature (more than 50 papers and 11 book chapters). Dr. Pachana’s research record is reflected in the invitations she receives to present keynote addresses, for example at the 2001 Alzheimer’s Disease International Conference, Christchurch, New Zealand. She is currently the national chair of the Australian Psychological Society’s Psychology and Ageing Interest Group, and Editor of the Australian Psychologist, that organization’s premier journal of applied psychology.
This project is funded by an ARC/NHMRC Ageing Well, Ageing Productively Strategic Award.
